UPDATE: 1-2-2008; For those who may be wondering, yes you are correct, I haven't written anything new for a few days. I have been pondering, and decided to go through with, going on a writting sabatical for a few months. With all the political mess we are in now, and all the crap we've been put through over the last year and a half, I need the rest, just as America needs a rest from liberals. One Third Of Muslim Students Approve Killing For Islam

At least, that was what they just discovered in England. The tired excuse of poverty, ignorance or oppression is what creates jihadi's, doesn't look to be all that valid any more. As the students surveyed were in some of the more prestigious Universities in England.

Cambridge, Queen Mary, Exeter, are but a few that come to mind from the list of Universities surveyed.

YouGov conducted the poll for the Center for Social Cohesion. And the results came out rather embarrassing for those making the claim that there is no radicalism in British Universities. Here is the actual data from YouGov. Here is the overall breakdown from CFSC. The study included about 1,400 students. 600+ were muslim. 800+ were non-muslim, which should have brought the curve down a bit, but didn't.

Here are just a few of the poll's findings. Ending (Notes) are my own additions;

--Just under a third of Muslim students polled (32%) said killing in the name of religion can be justified. But, 60% of active members of campus Islamic societies said killing in the name of religion can be justified. (Nice. Sucks to be an Infidel I guess.)

--A minority (6%) said that apostates (those who leave islam) should be "punished in accordance with Sharia." (Thankfully.)

--A third (33%) of Muslim students polled supported the introduction of a worldwide Caliphate based on Sharia law. A majority (58%) of active members of campus Islamic Societies supported this idea. (So I guess they are for the recent U.N. resolution put forth by the OIC?)

--8% of Muslim students agree that "Most of my friends at university are Muslim because I have more in common with them than I do with non-Muslims". However, this rises to 25% when active members of campus Islamic Societies are asked. (Note this statistic, as it is important later.)

--Male Muslim students were the most likely to be intolerant of homosexuality: male Muslim respondents (32%) were much more likely than female Muslim respondents (19%) to have little or no respect for homosexuals. (Explains Ahmadinejad's comments then about "there are no gays in Iran.")

-- Almost one in fifteen (7%) Muslim students polled said they had not very much or no respect at all for Jews. Four out of five (79%) Muslim students polled, however, said they respected
Jews. (This one shocked me a bit I'll admit.)

I recommend perusing both the data page as well as the breakdown to get the full impact of the poll. As for the stat above to "note this.." here is why. Anthony Glees, professor of security and intelligence studies at Buckingham University had said, "The finding that a large number of students think it is okay to kill in the name of religion is alarming. There is a wide cultural divide between Muslim and non-Muslim students. The solution is to stop talking about celebrating diversity and focus on integration and assimilation."

Huzzah! Professor Glees, Huzzah! Down with diversity. Up with Integration and Assimilation. Something we could use a bit of here in the USA. And while were at it, can we reinstate the ORIGINAL meaning of Tolerance? Not this namby pamby missused version we have now.
