I expect that Al Gore will most likely, again vanish into the hills to regrow the mountain-man image he sported for a bit. And in 30+ years, attempt a return of the king moment to rekindle the "warming" issue. When temperatures might actually be going up. Until then, we might as well enjoy what's left of the warmth. Because it's likely gonna be getting a might bit cooler for a while.
Besides, the only real heat we have to deal with currently, is the financial fiasco. As a matter of fact, the markets issue has gotten so "warm" in Europe, that they've pretty much halted the "carbon reduction" goals they had been dead set on. As found in the National Post article by Benny Peiser, "To prevent a financial crisis from turning into an economic calamity, the European Union has pulled the emergency brake on green policies. At last week’s EU summit in Brussels, seven eastern and central European countries, together with Italy, threatened to veto the Union’s climate pact. The rebel governments claimed that the originally agreed goal of cutting the EU’s CO2 emissions by 20% by 2020 was too expensive; economic turmoil and rising unemployment meant that implementing the CO2 goal was no longer affordable." Right there in black and white folks. A significant portion of Europe saying global whining can go piss up a rope. Join the Kyoto what?
But Europe of course, aren't the only ones feeling a market pinch. We here in America have been feeling a little tightening of the belt as well. Well, a strangling by belt I think would be a more accurate description. And as such, both WIND and SOLAR are feeling the sting. Which I must admit, kinda sucks for solar. I still think that of all the renewables, solar will be the better one to go with. The thought of a bad wind storm ripping a few propeller blades off, or faulty construction does not comfort me in the slightest.
Also feeling the pinch are some of the major energy investment companies. GE is one of the first of such entities to "throw in the towel" on clean energy. Simply put, the hoax that is global warming, has taken a back seat to the market crisis. If global whining truly were such a serious issue, the "consensus" if you will, companies of this size would be pressing forward, regardless of the crunch.
Speaking of consensus, it appears the few, measly numbers of UN conspirators that lauded Gore's mock-u-mentary, are now becoming vastly outnumbered. More and more scientists, with GENUINE research, (not the pre-designed outcomes of a computer model) are stepping up to the plate. REAL science, is already showing the uber-detrimental temperature increase the world has felt since 1979, seems to have vanished in the last four years. Hmmm... I wonder where it went? But hey, don't take my word for it. I'd prefer you took the word of the satellite guys with the Intel. I mean hey, those satellites only take 300k temperature readings a day, which shows 'the heat be gone.' South America has had some issues with the situation as well it seems.
But hey, it's not to be all wine and roses. ICECAP had to go ahead and put a damper on the celebration. I guess it's a damper unless of course, you like cross country skiing. Seems the record low snow and ice, well, is now a record HIGH snow and ice. Yeah, as we already knew, ice melts, ice reforms. Well, it's just reforming a bit faster than it can melt.
Anyone for sno-cones?
UPDATE: 1-2-2008; For those who may be wondering, yes you are correct, I haven't written anything new for a few days. I have been pondering, and decided to go through with, going on a writting sabatical for a few months. With all the political mess we are in now, and all the crap we've been put through over the last year and a half, I need the rest, just as America needs a rest from liberals. I'll c yas on the flip side. --John
Now here is a serious YouTube Brutha with Word! Alfonzo, also known as "machosauceproductions" puts the serious smack down, and is worthy of note. You can check him out here; http://www.youtube.com/user/machosauceproduction

Well, for someone who seems so keen on hammer-blowing the concept of global warming, you are suprisingly light on when it comes to the financial fiasco, as you put it.
This is caused by pure greed, from the original people setting up poor quality loans, to the fools who bought them, to the millions of people wanting to get rich quick on the stock market by taking advantage of others' losses.
Is it that hard to see? The bible says "the love of money is the root of all evil", and even though I am not religious, Mr Smackdown, anyone who looks at the world today for more than 5 seconds without thinking about personal gain can see that it is our greed that will be the end of our species.
Maybe global warming will do it, maybe not. But if we continue the way we are going we will surely perish.
For the record, Mr Smackdown, I am of the opinion that the pollution we produce is actually there and so it has an effect. In that sense, I agree that global warming is a threat.
We need to take two actions. One is to develop clean energy, as explained at the Solar Power Facts site, and the second is to stop being selfish.
The second will lead to the first.
I don't suppose you will approve this post, but I must say your writing style got me going.
Roger from Green Planet Solar Energy.
Thx for commenting Rog.. Can I call you Rog?
Of course I'd publish a comment like this Rog, as I love to let the community see the anality of an commentor such as yourself, and your complete lack of ability to form a good argument.
(TIP: Don't try to use liberal talking points for your entire rant.)
The financial fiasco, as I CORRECTLY put it, originated with the CRA. CRA was not about greed. I even extended credit where credit was due. Jimmy Carter, although a complete idiot, initiated it to benefit low income and minorities to attain home owner ship. Not a bad thing when done correctly. The problems didn't arise until '93-'95 area when Clinton expanded the powers that be in the CRA. (I.E., excessive fines for redlining.) Predatory lending didnt exist until after these changes. You can ask your messiah Obama about his victories via lawsuits against banks (google obama sues Citibank 1994) about this.
'nuff said.
Global whining will NOT be the end of the planet. Sorry, you just have to much evidence going against you on that topic these days. So stop while your behind. "Oh my gosh! the planet is warming via carbon! Can't you see it?" Actually, both ground and satellite recordings reveal exactly the opposite. For the last 8 years the planet has been cooling. So much so, that the temperature of the entire planet has cooled by 1° Celcius. Not exactly the harbinger of doom we've been force fed. In fact, it's been proven time and time again that carbons are RELEASED BY ice melt. NOT CAUSING ice melt. And since the ice is rebuilding faster than it melted,.. well.. you get the picture.
Again...'nuff said.
Now Rog.. The simple fact that you were either A.) arrogant enough to spew the above while putting your GREEN tag along with your name, or B.) stupid enough to do so,.. removes any and every bit of credibility you thought you might have had. If you care to shovel out the BS in your head, and RE-read my post, you might notice this part where I wrote; "And as such, both WIND and SOLAR are feeling the sting. Which I must admit, kinda sucks for solar. I still think that of all the renewables, solar will be the better one to go with."
Wait just a sec.. "Roger from Green Planet Solar Energy".. Pushing for alternative energies? That sounds like a form of self promotion. Could that be greeeed slipping through? I think soooooo..
Ooooopss... done screwed up, didn't ya Rog? But of course you originally missed my part about approval of an alternative energy, since just like all the other numpty's.. you read what you wanted to in the article.
Nice try Rog... come back again when you can form a descent argument.
